Riding Lessons

Legacy Arabians is now accepting students for fall riding lessons!

Saturday's are busy and fun days at Legacy Arabians. Although we offer lessons to fit most all schedules, Saturdays are more of an open barn concept day where lessons are ongoing throughout the day. Our clients and visitors comment that they really enjoy this day. Younger riders are often learning to tack up and groom from the willing assistance of older riders. Horses are walked, bathed, and brushed and both horse and rider seem to thrive on this attention. Lessons are taught in one of three training Arena's. We have a covered and lighted arena and two larger outdoor arenas. Lessons are taught by skilled trainers and instructors that have completed and won regionally and national titles. Riding lessons are offered for ages five and up. All riders begin in private lessons to ensure your individual safety. Typically lessons are about 40 minutes long and students are also instructed in basic preparation to prepare horses to ride. Lessons are $65 and are offered on very well-trained, champion horses. Lessons are offered by appointment only. No drop-in’s. Long pants and boots are required for all lessons-After your first lesson a riding helmet that’s fits is required.
We are often asked "do I have to compete I just want to learn to ride and be with the horses. "We want you to enjoy horses at whatever level that you are comfortable with. Some ladies just want to brush walk and learn to handle their horses safely. We will teach you at any level that you choose and any discipline that you choose. We do realize dreams come in all sizes. We are here to help you accomplish yours.

Legacy Arabians has a multi faceted approach for individuals and families that wish to explore Equestrian Skills, by offering several different options.

Buy A Ride Program

This is a unique opportunity for a skilled equestrian, who wishes to explore the world of showing trained, nationally titled, winning show horses. Arabians are available for lease on a show by show basis. For Example, let’s say you have a great riding child that wants to have a chance to go to Youth Nationals and earn a national title. She may already own a lovely Arabian, but it is not the quality of a national winning horse. She can buy a ride and show at the National level, offering her a great opportunity to compete and show on a national winning horse. It’s far easier to succeed on a horse that has already shown and been awarded a national title. The photos below show several past students of Legacy Arabians, winning at our National Competition. One young rider has been national Champion two times with our buy a ride Stallion Flame Is On. WR Underkhover Girl was named Youth Reserve National Champion for one Child, and yet another child rode her to the child's first Top 10 ever! We have buy a ride horses available in Western, Hunter, Country, Costume and Show Hack.

Buy A Ride also allows riders to explore the sport of showing before purchasing a horse. It’s a try it and see if you love it program. Every year we have riders that compete in their first shows on our finished trained Arabians. Seeing that smile from an exhibitor as she wins her first blue ribbon is always a great experience! This program is a great way to experience the joys of riding and competing prior to purchasing an expensive horse. It also allows riders to experience different disciplines. We had a young rider that was a great Hunt Seat rider, but wanted to learn Country English Pleasure. She bought a ride at Nationals and was thrilled when she was awarded a Top 10. We have had students win enough scholarship money to pay for their entire college education! It’s nice to know that we try and attend shows that offer scholarship money for our youth!

We offer 20 experienced, trained Arabians for our local open shows. These are fun shows that are very inexpensive to compete in, and all go to improve their equestrian skills. No show clothing is required! Just a willingness to lean and love the sport is all that is required. We always have a great time, and it’s a great way to work out and lose weight! We promise, you will go home tired and happy with a big smile on your face!

Apprentice Programs

We occasionally have openings for good, hard-working students that wish to learn and assist us in the daily activities of our ranch. The individuals that we work with must be skilled at working with young horses and learning about newborn foals. We are also a full service breeding farm and raise several foals a year. These foals need to be handled and loved, walked and trained to stand, bathe and be well mannered babies. This may sound easy, but these babies quickly learn to bounce and pounce away from you..and they can weigh several hundred pounds. Our shows Arabians need constant bathing and grooming. If you love horses and have about 20 hours a week to devote to them, we will be happy to discuss these opportunities with you.
